Thanks to all that attended the 2007 Super Boot. What a success and what a party! It was great to see all the old faces (sorry Dirty Dozen) and the newbies. Special thanks to the Buff staff, Scott & Shelly, refs Eck and Ross. We drank lots of Budweiser and Red Bull!
I have mixed feelings about the Ice Dogs winning. I am happy for them, but I hope it doesn't mean the end of the road for the Dirty Dozen. They have been loyal friends and great competitors, and I hope they have a few more years left in them. But in defeat, I believe they now have a challenge for 2008. Oddly, I find it ironic that the Ice Dogs win without possibly the greatest boot hockey player (in his own mind) of all time on their roster:
Mark Facca.
I'm not sure who had more fun partying... the Grizzly's girl napping at noon on Saturday, Ted Jagermeister from Grand Rapids, The Park Place boys, the Bakerman entrant into the "dance for cash" upstairs, or Beautiful Bob with his vodka Red Bulls. Hey Grizzly boys, if we had a beer drinking trophy...
you won.
We are already working on plans for 2008. All will remain the same except we will have to have the first round completed Friday. ALL TEAMS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PLAY FRIDAY NIGHT. This will lighten the load on Saturday/Sunday. We will again offer the Buffalo Chip Consolation and we may be able to bring the Skills Competition back (just for you #11).
The Buffalo House will take on a new look with a major remodel in the next 2 years. Stoy is going to expand 25' out, with the bar in the middle and more window seats. We asked for an escalator down to the rink, and he said he'd work on it. He did say in 2008 that there would be speakers so we can have tunes. He also promised more room in the changing garage.
I already have commitments from most teams that attended this year. You all said you'd be back. I also received confirmation on a team from Quebec coming down to play us. They don't speak english very well, but I think we'll give them a good time. Be sure to practice your swear words in French so you can yell at them as they steal the puck.
And of course the best for last. If you were upstairs Saturday night, you saw it. If not, then please be upstairs in 2008 around 10:00 p.m. for the 2nd Annual Tony & Adams T&A Skin to Win Dance Contest. The Thunder Bay bar has already offered the cash prize which should be at least $200. We already have entrants for this too, and one veteran from this year is already campaigning: KATE IN 2008!
Stay tuned...
