"And uh Super Boot is and uh FUNNER."
Those are the words Chris Jackson of the Ice Dogs used in his pre-game
interview with the local media, and he was right. Jackson's team knocked
back his ex-friends the Ice Dog Rejects 5-0 in the championship game Sunday
night, guaranteeing the Ice Dogs a 3-peat. Jackson's select squad breezed
through the winners bracket undefeated.
But overshadowing their victory was the greatest boot hockey goal ever
scored. Mark Facca, in a previous game, demonstrated his behind the net
"Michigan style" goal, much to the delight of the dozens, maybe a few,
spectators who were lucky (sober enough) to see it. Facca refused to comment
on the goal after the game as he had his game face on, along with a cool red
helmet.
Other teams celebrated milestones... Moose Country/Park Place 3-peated 3rd
place, beating back St. Paul rival Bakerman. Scoregasm actually scored a
goal and Buff/Spence even made it to Sunday! The Rejects even had a few
veteran (retired?) Dirty Dozen members on their roster. Wally you missed the
dance contest! Young Guns tried to pick up a Russian "Bradda" on their
roster, and Soupy finally arrived Sunday afternoon, but he forgot his stick
and forgot he wasn't on a team.
Moon's Auto partied the upstairs with Stanleys, along with the Bud Girls'
(who were lame) friends who were THE PARTY, with the help of a few girls who
shall remain unidentified (see 2009 photos). "What happens in the Valley,
stays in the Valley". We raffled over $1,000 worth of stuff including Forest
Ice Shoes, hotel nights stay, cash, plus more.
Overall it was the best year ever. We missed you Terry, Ted, Ray, Nasher,
Robbie, Red Lake, Crocker, JIGGERS, and all others. Thanks to Eck and Ross/Fitz
and to Shelly + Stoy. Soly and all the Buff House gang.

following year to defend their title.
